In this country of 10 million inhabitants, on an area of about 1,100,000 sq km, where Spanish, Quechua and Aymara are the languages and the official currency is Boliviano, about 60,000 bags of coffee are produced every year, one modest quantity, certainly. The main harvest takes place between April and August, only the Arabica species is grown, the processing method is 80% washed and 20% natural and the coffee is exported via Chile or Peru (there are no outlets to the sea!), in bags of 70 kg net.
The most cultivated botanical varieties are Typica, Caturra and Catuai which are grown mainly in 4 regions Yungas, El Beni, Caranavi, Santa Cruz.
