Rodriguez started with the agricultural crops left by his father, where he cultivated coffee in small quantities. Together with his brother they start growing coffee without any knowledge, but they make this their main source of income, selling all their coffee to intermediaries at low prices. Now they have decided to venture into the quality coffee markets in the area, and thanks to the support of COCAFCAL they have opted for better prices with the desire to improve their production process producing ever higher quality of coffee.
Michele’ suggestion: this coffee represents the first step of an entrepreneurial sustainability project in high quality Arabica coffee production. Umami Area manages the plantation practicing sustainable agriculture and paying a fair salary to the farmers who work there.
