Ishema wet mill is a sustainable project that aims to create and improve the working conditions of women in rural Rwanda. This coffee is grown and processed exclusively by women-only cooperatives and small businesses. Today there are more than 40 thousand and for that country it is an important cultural, social and economic step. The project also helps to further extend a “coffee culture” in the cultivation and consequently to improve the quality of coffee for the final consumer.
Michele’s suggestion: this is a coffee that I have been using and roasting for more than 3 years and that I am keen to offer for its sustainable and empowering woman project. This year the harvest is particularly interesting at an altitude of 1800-2200 meters.
